Refuge remembers Christine and Lucy Lee

On the second anniversary of the murders of Christine Lee and Lucy Lee, Sandra Horley CBE, chief executive of Refuge, says:

“Today, Refuge’s thoughts are with the family of Christine Lee and Lucy Lee – and in particular with Stacy Banner, whose mother and sister were brutally murdered by John Lowe, Christine’s partner, two years ago. Lowe is currently serving a life sentence for the murders.

Stacy took the incredibly brave step of sharing her story and joining Refuge’s call for a public inquiry into state agencies’ response to domestic violence. Two women a week are killed by their partner or ex-partner in England and Wales. It is a national disgrace that the police and other public bodies are still not responding appropriately to women and children’s cries for help.

Both Refuge and Stacy Banner want to see lasting change. Please join us in our call for a public inquiry by signing our petition.”
