Refuge and local authority partners secure almost £800,000 of DCLG funding

In response to the news that Refuge will receive a share of £20 million of funding from the Department of Communities and Local Government to support victims of domestic violence, Sandra Horley, chief executive of Refuge, said:

“Refuge, working with nine of its local authority partners, is delighted to have secured almost £800,000 of funding from the Department of Communities and Local Government. This money will go straight into Refuge’s frontline services, enabling us to sustain and grow our outreach support and keep the doors of refuges open.”

“Refuges provide a vital escape route for women and children facing violence at home and enable them to begin to rebuild their lives, free from violence and fear. This funding shows that the Government recognises the unique value of refuge provision, and is listening to Refuge and the women it supports when it comes to what survivors of domestic violence really need. Refuge looks forward to working with its local partners to deliver more live-saving and life-changing support.”
