How do I apply for a Refuge vacancy?

You will need to complete an application form for each job you wish to apply for. (Please note that we are unable to accept CVs).  Send completed application forms to recruitment@refuge.org.uk and use the job title and reference number of the role that you are applying for as the email subject heading.

Volunteering for Refuge

We rely on the goodwill of dedicated individuals to continue our work to support survivors of domestic violence.

We would not be able to continue to deliver our life changing services to women and children without the support and dedication of volunteers. We welcome and value volunteers’ involvement and appreciate the contribution they make in supporting women and children escaping domestic violence. Our volunteers bring skills, experience, energy, enthusiasm and commitment to Refuge.  Volunteering can make a difference in your life too, letting you meet new people and learn new skills.

Your contribution makes a huge difference when you offer your services as a volunteer. There are a number of ways in which you can volunteer for Refuge, helping to create a world free from domestic violence.

We recruit volunteers in the following areas:

  • Freephone 24 hour National Domestic Violence Helpline (run in partnership between Women’s Aid and Refuge)
  • Working with women and children in our refuges
  • Office work supporting the teams in  our offices in Tower Hill, London

What we offer our volunteers

  • Opportunities to contribute to the work of the leading specialist domestic violence organisation
  • An opportunity to develop skills and experience in a particular area such as fundraising and communications
  • Training and support
  • An opportunity for development
  • Volunteers receive travel expenses

What we expect from our volunteers

  • A  minimum commitment of  at least three months, we welcome volunteers who can stay for longer
  • A commitment to our values
