Domestic violence - it's a matter of life and deathRefuge in partnership with Waterstones The 1999/2000 award winning campaign was spearheaded by Sheryl Gascoigne and brought together in-store fundraising, staff fundraising initiatives, a week-long awareness raising campaign in The Sun newspaper, a pro-bono advertising campaign coutesy of Grey Advertising and the publication of The Charm Syndrome, by Sandra Horley OBE, Refuge's Chief Executive. The campaign generated in excess of 47,500,000 'opportunities to see' in a wide range of media. There was week-long serialised coverage from The Sun newspaper, extended televised coverage, including GMTV and the Tonight Programme with Trevor McDonald, electronic media such as BBC online and national and regional radio coverage. The campaign was highly acclaimed and won the following awards:- June 2000 - Institute of Public Relations Excellence Awards 2000
