How your support will make a difference

Refuge opened the world’s first refuge for women and children in Chiswick, West London, in 1971. Since then we have grown to become the country’s largest single provider of emergency accommodation and support services for women and children experiencing domestic violence. On any given day we support over 1,000 women and children.

Our services range from a national helpline* and psychological support to independent legal advocacy and community outreach schemes. We also run award-winning advertising campaigns which reach out to women and children everywhere and challenge society’s negative attitudes towards domestic violence. On top of this we lobby the Government hard to ensure that domestic violence remains high on the political agenda.

None of this would be possible without the support of people like you. Thank you for choosing to speak out against domestic violence.
