The difference your support makes

We often receive thank you letters and cards from the women and children who have been supported by one of our services.

Just one of these is Mary, who was supported by the team in our Cambridgeshire refuge and wrote us this letter.

Mary’s letter

“This letter has taken me a long time to write.  Quite simply, how do you thank someone for saving your life?  Well I’ve decided you can’t, not with words anyway, but I’m going to give it a go.

When I first contacted Refuge I felt trapped and I thought the violence I was experiencing was all my fault.  But you showed me there was a way out.

I know it took my key worker a long time to convince me that I deserved to be in the refuge. I’ll never forget how you listened to me without judgement.

You were always there to make me smile, even on the darkest days. You are all awesome and amazing.  Day in and day out you are making a crucial difference in the lives of women and children. Never forget that.

I am only alive today because of you and I am just one person to have walked through your doors.  I have absolutely no idea how I will repay you and the refuge for what you’ve done for me but I will find a way.”

Without you we could not reach women like Mary, we could not provide services that help keep women and children free from violence and fear. Thank you for your continued support.
