Prospect Researcher – London, Tower Hill

Do you think it is a national disgrace that in England and Wales, two women a week are killed by their partner or ex-partner? Or that one woman in every four will experience domestic violence at some point during her life-time?

Do you want to work for an organisation that provides a voice for these women, and play a vital role in ensuring that life-saving services are in place to support them? If so, then Prospect Researcher at Refuge may be the perfect role for you.

Refuge is the country’s largest provider of specialist services for victims of all forms of gender-based violence. Every day we support over 3,800 women and children in our national network of services. We advise Government and lobby to keep violence against women and girls high on the public agenda. We run award-winning prevention and public education campaigns, managing a busy press office and website, and we are an accredited training provider.

Refuge is committed to a world where domestic and other gender violence is not tolerated and where women and children can live in safety. We aim to empower women and children to rebuild their lives, free from violence and fear.

It’s a really exciting time at Refuge as we look to develop our fundraising and have ambitious targets for future growth across all funding areas.

This is an excellent opportunity for an aspiring fundraising researcher to join a dynamic fundraising team and implement a research strategy across all areas of major donor, trust and corporate fundraising – within a respected national charity.

This role will be at the centre of the team and will be the lynchpin of future fundraising successes. The post holder will be responsible for building the prospect pipeline and writing the profiles and development plans for the cultivation and engagement of prospects and donors. You will keep abreast of all sector news relating to fundraising and ensure that Refuge complies with all fundraising legislation.

We’re looking for a bright, enthusiastic individual with proven experience of major donor prospect research leading to the securing of major gifts as well as experience of working with fundraising databases to interrogate and extract data for profiles and reports and to track donor pipelines.  Exemplary written communication and organisational skills are essential and an exceptional attention to detail and vitally an interest in fundraising and the work of Refuge.   You will also be able to prioritise and organise workload effectively in a fast paced fundraising environment.

There has never been a more exciting time to join Refuge. Public consciousness around domestic violence is increasing and, in a climate of squeezed local authority budgets, there is a renewed focus on generating income from new sources. This role is a brilliant opportunity for a passionate and creative high performing individual hoping to make their mark in the women’s sector.

All candidates must demonstrate a commitment to the feminist values of empowerment and equality, which underpin all of our work.
