Refuge partners with innovative obstacle course race Mudderella

MudderellaObstacle course challenge created for women by women names Refuge as official charity partner for UK debut

Mudderella has announced domestic violence charity Refuge as the official charity partner for its first event in the United Kingdom. To be held on 30 August, 2014 at Boughton House Estate in Northamptonshire, Mudderella’s European debut follows an overwhelmingly positive founding year in the United States.

Sarah Harvey, Mudderella spokeswoman says:

“Mudderella is committed to providing women with a great experience at our events. We’re also committed to a great cause — the prevention of domestic violence and supporting those affected by it. Partnering with Refuge is an honour; by raising awareness and support for this organisation, Mudderella strives to contribute to a better future for women across the UK.”

Mudderella courses feature 12 – 15 obstacles over 5 – 7 miles. Designed to test balance, full-body strength and agility, the event encourages women to “Own Your Strong” in a positive, team-focused atmosphere. To reinforce participants’ focus on teamwork and personal accomplishment, Mudderella events are not timed.”

Sandra Horley CBE, chief executive of Refuge says:

“Refuge is delighted to be the exclusive charity partner for the first UK Mudderella event. The event should be fantastic fun and we can’t wait to cheer on everyone taking part. Even more importantly, Mudderella will help us to raise much needed money for our work with women and children escaping domestic violence. Sadly 1 in 4 women will experience domestic violence at some point in their life time and money raised from this event will help Refuge to continue reaching over 3,000 women and children escaping domestic violence on any given day.”

Since its founding in 1971, Refuge has grown to become the country’s largest single provider of specialist accommodation and support to women and children escaping domestic violence. Mudderella participants will be encouraged to raise money for the charity through a rebate system. Each £240 raised could  help 4 families find safety in one of the Refuge accommodations.

Participant and spectator registration for the event is now available at Events are open for sign-up until event day, as long as they do not sell out.  To follow Mudderella on social media visit and
