Knit for Refuge campaign gets underway

Knit for Refuge with Simply Knitting and The Knitter

Create teddy bears and blankets for the children in our refuges

Following on from the huge success of last year’s Comfort Blanket Campaign, which resulted in hundreds of blankets and thousands of pounds for women and children escaping domestic violence, Refuge is very pleased to announce that knitting magazines The Knitter and Simply Knitting are supporting Refuge again this year with their Knit for Refuge campaign!

This time, the focus is on the young children who stay at our refuges. Two-thirds of refuge residents are children, around half of whom are aged under five. The Knitter and Simply Knitting are calling on their readers to knit a small teddy bear or a cot blanket to bring some happiness to a small child coming to terms with the effects of domestic violence.

The magazines will release a new series of exclusive blanket square designs for the Knit for Refuge campaign, available in return for a small donation to Refuge. The Knitter and Simply Knitting aim to raise £10,000 for Refuge this year – so get supporting them now at
