International Women’s Day 2012: celebrating women’s success with a champagne breakfast

International Women’s Day is celebrated around the world. The occasion is marked annually in the City of London to acknowledge women’s success and contribution to the workplace and society.

When? 9th March 2012, 8:00 – 11:00 am.
Where? The Great Hall, Guildhall, City of London (map)

Following the overwhelming success of previous International Women’s Day events, the 2011 breakfast event was probably the best yet and sold out quickly as usual. It was held on the morning of Friday 11th March at the Guildhall in the City of London. The event raised over £28,000 for Refuge, who support over 1,600 women and children to escape domestic violence every day. Organisations including the City of London Police and City of London Corporation came together to form a committee dedicated to celebrating the achievements of women in the City of London with an annual event for the United Nations International Women’s Day. The committee set out to deliver a unique celebration of International Women’s Day in the City in the grand surroundings of the Guildhall.

Sponsorship funds raised go directly to Refuge and we are so pleased to have the generous and vital support of the committee who organise the event annually in addition to their daily work commitments. For many years they have worked hard to ensure the event continues to be as high profile and successful as it is. Refuge simply could not deliver its vital work without this support.
